To give you our full attention during your eye test, we may use an AI scribe. With your agreement, the conversation during the test is recorded so the system can draft the visit notes for our optician to review, instead of the optician typing while testing your eyes. This lets us focus on you and your vision rather than on a keyboard, and it helps us provide the best possible care.
Everything is processed locally. The recording is transcribed on our own in-store system. Nothing is sent to an outside AI service and nothing leaves the clinic. The audio file is deleted automatically once the notes have been produced, and the notes become part of your patient record under our usual privacy and retention practices. Our optician reviews every note; the AI does not make any clinical decisions.
You may opt out at any time. We will let you know before the scribe is used and ask for your agreement. If you would prefer we did not use it, simply tell a member of our team before or during your test and we will take notes the traditional way. Opting out does not affect the care or service you receive in any way.
