Contact Lens Safety & Usage Guide

Hygiene Basics

• Always wash your hands with soap and water before handling lenses. Dry with a lint-free towel.
• Never use tap water on your lenses — it can contain microorganisms that cause serious eye infections.
• Don't use saliva to wet your lenses. Your mouth contains bacteria harmful to your eyes.
• Replace your lens case every 1-3 months to prevent bacterial buildup.

Wearing Schedule

• Follow the wearing schedule prescribed by your eye care professional.
• Daily disposables: Discard after a single use. Never sleep in them or reuse them.
• Bi-weekly lenses: Replace every 14 days, regardless of how many days you've actually worn them.
• Monthly lenses: Replace every 30 days from opening, not from total wear days.
• Never overwear your lenses beyond the recommended schedule.

Cleaning & Storage

• Use only the contact lens solution recommended by your optician.
• Rub and rinse each lens with solution for at least 20 seconds, even with "no-rub" solutions.
• Fill your lens case with fresh solution every time — never top off old solution.
• Rinse your case with solution (not water) after each use and let it air dry face-down.

Warning Signs — Remove Lenses Immediately If:

• You experience persistent redness, pain, or irritation
• Your vision becomes blurry while wearing lenses
• You notice unusual discharge or excessive tearing
• You feel increased sensitivity to light
• The lens feels uncomfortable or moves excessively

Do's and Don'ts

• Do remove lenses before swimming, showering, or using a hot tub.
• Do carry backup glasses in case you need to remove your lenses.
• Do apply makeup after inserting lenses and remove lenses before removing makeup.
• Don't sleep in your lenses unless specifically approved for extended wear.
• Don't share lenses with others, even decorative or coloured lenses.
• Don't buy lenses without a valid prescription.
